Key Information

Free School Meals - Apply to see if you qualify!

Free School Meals are available to pupils in Full Time Education whose parents/carers receive certain types of benefit or support.

Your child will qualify for free schools meals if you are receiving one of the following benefits:

  • income support

  • income based job seekers allowance

  • income related employment and support allowance

  • guarantee element of state pension credit

  • child tax credit with no working tax credit

  • support under Part 1V of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.

  • universal credit

  • Council Tax Support

  • Housing Benefit

Children who receive a qualifying benefit in their own right are also entitled to receive free school meals.

Unfortunately, your child won’t qualify for free school meals if you are receiving working tax credits and disabled working tax credits.

    Universal infant free school meals

Although infant children (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) will automatically receive a free school meal, we're asking families who have a statutory entitlement to free school meals to complete an application form online so that we can check if our school is entitled to receive Pupil Premium (extra funding) for your child.

The Pupil Premium grant is provided by the government for each eligible child and this money is used to fund valuable support in school.

Even if you don’t want your child to receive a free school meal, we'd ask you to complete the application form anyway so that our school receives as much funding as possible to spend on the children’s education.

If you need any assistance in completing this application form, please contact a member of staff in the school office or call school on 01226 729910 to discuss this further.
