Our class name for this school year is ‘Enchanted Wood’. This story setting is inspired by the one of our year 2 recommended reads books called ‘Enchanted Wood’ by Enid Blyton. Both Miss Wainwright and I believe that books are the key to unlocking our imaginations and therefore we will explore a wide range of books over the next school term.
We will enjoy various texts to provide us with a purpose for writing in Literacy.
In Literacy, we will enjoy various texts to provide us with a purpose for writing supported by Literacy Tree. This will include ‘Toys in Space’, ‘The Minpins’, ‘Rosie Revere Engineer’ and non-fiction information based on ‘Florence Nightingale’ which coincides perfectly with our history topic all about the Victorian times. We will also share the stories ‘The Dragon Machine’ and ‘Houses held up by trees’ before finishing the year with a personal recount ‘all about ourselves’.
In Maths, we will be covering many topics over the term which include shapes and their properties, telling the time to 5 minute intervals, fractions of amounts and volume. We will continue to master addition and subtraction, which involve renaming, multiplication and division facts for the 3 times table and we will revisit our knowledge of number bonds to 20, double and halves of numbers up to 20, and consolidate all multiplications/division facts for the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times table.
